On this day (January 8th) in 1975, the first female governor to be “elected in her own right” (meaning she wasn’t married to a former governor), Ella T. Grasso was inaugurated. She was Governor of Connecticut from 1975 to 1980. This is her and her husband Thomas at the Connecticut inaugural ball with members of the Governor’s Footguard.
I’m so proud to be from Connecticut right now :D

Happy New Years!
This 1876 painting is “Moulin de la Galette” by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and its festiveness made me think that it’d be a good painting to post on New Years, so here’s to a great year!
